More Information

The interdisciplinary understanding required for the design and analysis of underwater acoustic communication presents formidable constraints and challenges for computer scientists and engineers. Understanding underwater communications requires knowledge about multi-path propagation via hydrophones, and using acoustic waves instead of electromagnetism. Underwater communication is difficult due to factors such as time variations of the channel, small available bandwidth and strong signal attenuation, especially over long ranges. In this website, we report our ongoing research on underwater wireless communications. A variety of ideas and solutions that could be of value for further research is reported. Publications and demonstrations in terms of topology control, directional underwater transducers, monitoring and surveillance applications.
